I was at a presentation at the USA Embassy in Warsaw last week. The guest was
Prof. Stephen Szabo. During his talk he claimed that "
Europe is becoming more European." The title of his talk was "
Trans-atlantic Relations after the US Election." This was a puzzling claim for me. With changing immigration patterns and an aging European population, what feature of Europe is becoming more European? The Franco-German bloc is increasingly anti-American, but could this have more to do with the increasing voices of dissent from non-europeans in those countries?
Much was made of the anti-Bush demonstrators in Mainz, Germany who were blocked from showing the USA President their distaste...but did you know about the
Counter demonstration? Is Europe becoming more European? What exactly is becoming more European within Europe?
